You Get Married or Register a Same-Sex Domestic Partner

Steps you need to take vary, depending on whether you're:

• Getting Married
• Registering a Same-Sex Domestic Partner

 If You Get Married

• Contact your departmental administrator as soon as possible. Ask him or her to change your:
  • Marital status in the payroll system;
  • Name, if applicable;
  • Tax withholding status, if you choose.
• Make the appropriate changes to your benefits. For details, click here.

 If You Want to Register a Same-Sex Domestic Partner

• Contact the Benefits Office to request a Statement of Domestic Partnership form and a Tax Certification of Dependency for Health Insurance form or click here to download the form.
• Complete the forms and return them to the Benefits Office.
• Wait for the Benefits Office to confirm that your registration has been approved. (The Benefits Office will mail the registration approval directly to you.) You will be contacted if any information is missing from your Statement of Domestic Partnership form or if your registration has not been approved because you do not meet all the requirements.
