Other Time Off.
When you think of time off, vacation and holidays may come to mind.
However, there are other times you may need to miss work. If you're
a regular, full-time employee or a regular, part-time employee (who
works at least 20 hours per week), find out more about:
Bereavement
Time
Union Employees: Refer to your contracts for information
on bereavement time.
If there's a death in your immediate family, you may be
absent from work for up to three days with your supervisor's approval. Immediate family
members include your:
- parent or foster parent
- spouse
- University-registered domestic partner
- child
- brother
- sister
- mother-in-law
- father-in-law
- grandmother
- grandfather or
- grandchild.
The University will pay you for up to three days of an
absence. If you have to travel 500 miles or more each way to attend the funeral, you will
be paid for a fourth day, if needed. You become eligible for this bereavement pay after
three months of service.

Jury Duty
Union Employees: Refer to your contracts for information
on jury duty.
When you're summoned to appear for jury duty, notify your
department immediately. During your active period of jury duty, the University will
continue your salary. You also may keep the court's compensation and reimbursements for
travel expenses. If there are days in which you don't have to appear in court, you must
report to work to become eligible for your pay.
Jury duty is not counted as "days worked" when
computing your overtime for the week.
You become eligible for this benefit as of your hire date.

Voting
Union Employees: Refer to your contracts for
information on time off for voting.
You're expected to vote on your own time. If this isn't
possible, you may request time off to vote during working hours. You can be paid up to two
hours for such an absence. You must get approval from your supervisor at least two working
days in advance. To ensure payment for these hours, you must:
- Show your valid voter registration card to your supervisor,
- State why you need the time off, and
- Ensure that this time will be used for voting purposes only.
If you need to serve as a judge, clerk or official watcher at an election poll,
you may be granted time off without pay as long as your supervisor
approves your absence at least two workweeks in advance.

are called for active duty, you must notify your supervisor immediately
of the date you have to report to service.
