Employee/Labor Relations

The mission of the Employee/Labor Relations Office is to provide a consistent, professional and timely level of service to University administrators, managers and supervisors, to all University employees, to all representatives of local bargaining units, including their business agents and stewards and to any outside entity requiring our service or cooperation.

The Employee/Labor Relations Office has responsibility for:

co-chairing the Local 743 Equity Review Committee; (Local 743 Equity Review Committee Charter, Local 743 Equity/Market Adjustment Request Form);

negotiating bargaining unit agreements and their implementation;

handling grievances and providing arbitration support;

assisting departments to ensure adherence to regulatory compliance programs, including Family and Medical Leave of Absence, ADA, EEO;

placing union layoffs (Memorandum);

handling employee complaints, up to and including complaints that advance through the formal complaint procedure;

facilitating and mediating employee/employer differences;

approving all suspensions and terminations and for assisting supervisors with disciplinary procedures;

administering the Bonus Program for Local 743 employees;

administering employee recognition programs (25-year Club and the Service Award Programs);
communicating the Local 743 New Members Orientation schedule; and

presenting supervisory workshops (Documenting Discipline, Diversity, Sexual Harassment, New Manager Orientation and the Union Environment).
