185 Agreement
ARTICLE 2 - RECOGNITION
Section 2.1 General
The University recognizes the Union as the exclusive agent for purposes of collective bargaining with respect to wages, hours and conditions of employment for all full-time and eligible part-time Police Officers (those working an average of three shifts or more per month based on the months they were on the payroll since August 1, 1999) employed by the University at its campus located at and around 5801 South Ellis Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60637. All other employees, including lieutenants, sergeants, non-certified public safety personnel, professional employees, office clerical employees and supervisors, as defined in the National Labor Relations Act, are excluded from the bargaining unit. This unit is as provided for in NLRB Case No. 13-RC-20266. The bargaining unit includes those employees in the job classifications set forth in Appendices A, B and C. Nothing in this Agreement, including the recognition of the Union as bargaining agent, is intended as guarantee, implicit or implied, that any work currently or subsequently performed at the University shall continue to be performed at the University, nor as a guarantee or obligation of employment or to continue operations or any portion thereof.
Section 2.2
Part Time Status
The University will determine regular part-time employee status bi-annually each year in January and July by calculating each part-time Police Officer’s actual work schedules during the six month period prior to January 1 and July 1, respectively, of each year. These calculations are currently contained in the University’s bi-annual reports to the Illinois Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board, which are made pursuant to the Police Training Act. In order to be a regular part-time Police Officer, the part-time employee must work twenty-four (24) or more hours per month during the six month reporting period referred to above.
Section 2.3
Temporary Employees
The Employer may employ employees temporarily to supplement its regular workforce during periods when additional manpower is needed, subject to the terms of this Agreement.
