When to Use Corrective Action

In most cases, if you have identified an employee's poor performance or behavior, have coached the employee about the situation, and have not seen any improvement in the situation, it is time to begin the formal corrective action process.

For more severe incidents - especially those that compromise the safety of the employee, other staff, the University, or the public - you should proceed directly to the corrective action process.

In all cases, you should review your Incident Diary and ensure that you have fully documented the employee situation, as this documentation is the key input to the corrective action process.
