New Employee Orientation
UHRM Training and Development hosts New Employee Orientation (NEO) every Wednesday for new employees of the University. During the program, new employees are acquainted with University policies and procedures and given an introduction to the University community.
NEO consists of several presentations given by key University personnel regarding issues of safety, security, Staff and Faculty Assistance, diversity, and employee rights and responsibilities. There is also an introduction by University Benefits Counselors explaining employee benefits. After the benefits portion of the program, counselors are available to address specific benefits questions.
New Employee Orientation is held in the Human Resources Services Training Center, at 6054 S. Drexel Ave., Room 144. The program begins at 8:45 a.m. Listed below is a schedule for NEO. New University employees are required to attend NEO on any Wednesday within the first 30 days of their employment. Registration is not required. Employees may contact the Training and Development Office at (773) 702-9600 or by e-mail at uhrm-training@uchicago.edu with any questions.
New Employee Orientation - Web-Based Video
This online video presentation introduces employees to the University and to many of the services available to staff and faculty including technical support and campus security. It is primarily intended for new employees who are unable to attend the New Employee Orientation class. It can also be used by current employees for reference or review. The course is intended to:
- introduce you to the University's mission and organizational structure;
- provide information on the campus community including transporation options;
- highlight key staff policies and procedures;
- provide information on computer support and security;
- introduce you to the campus police and their many services for keeping you secure;
- provide key information on enviromental health and safety; and,
- serve as a quick and easy job aid and reference whenever needed.
